Chicago Education Project

Chicago Education Project would like to announce availability for summer clinic and school options. We offer individual and small group instruction for children and families with autism. All of our programs emphasize student motivation while using data and research to guide program decisions. Programs are supervised by those certified in behavior analysis (BCBAs), RDI®, and the Association Method.

Preschool and Friends
Age 3-5
9:00a - 11:15a; daily

Led by certified teachers and licensed social workers, this program provides students with developmental disabilities (including autism and PDD) a unique opportunity to learn in a school environment structured for their individual needs while facilitiating friendships and social skills with neuro-typical peers. Students will be exposed to structured learning activities, sensory games, and 2:1 social skills instruction, giving them a head start for entering preschool or kindergarten in the fall. Individual student assistants provided as needed. Individualized treatment plans and recommendations for fall will be given to families at the end of the student's session.

Session 2: July 7th - July 24th
Session 3: July 28th - August 14th

Literacy and Language Groups
Age 3-5
11:30a - 12:30p; daily

Age 6-8
1:00p - 2:00p; daily

In this group, phonemic awareness, vocabulary comprehension and pre-literacy skills will be taught to early readers through fun, interactive and functional lessons. Each week presents a new theme and a new opportunity to learn letter, sound and word associations. Students are grouped based on intake information and age. Maximum child: staff ratio is 2:1.

Session 3: July 28th - August 14th

Motor Skills and Handwriting Development
Age 5-8 and 9-11
2:15p - 3:15p; daily, or by appointment

Using lessons developed from Handwriting Without Tears and activities based on the Big 6+6 skills, students will participate in fun and motivating activities developed to strengthen fine motor abilities. Lessons will be linked to functional themes and activities to teach competency and fluency in handwriting. 1:1 assistants will be provided as needed.

Creative Movement
Age 5+
3:45p - 4:30p; Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Dance, kids' yoga, playground games and more! Have fun singing and dancing while working on coordinating movements, listening, attention and following directions. Maximum child: staff ratio of 3:1.

Life Prep
Age 7+
3:45p - 4:30p; Tuesday, Thursday

Teaching our kids skills needed for daily living not only helps them to become independent, but gives them a sense of comeptence and confidence. Lessons are developed for the individual student's needs and can include hygiene, cooking, following schedules, chores, or even shoe tying.

Intensive Summer School
Age 3-5 and 6-8
9:00a - 3:00p MTRF, 9:00a - 2:00p W

Students who need a more intensive approach to their education may be eligible for Chicago Education Project's School for Special Education. Students receive 1:1 instruction with daily supervision from Master's level teachers, BCBAs, an RDI® Consultant, and Social Workers. Individualized treatment plans will be created and daily measurements of goals recorded to ensure student success and progress.

Session 1: June 23rd - July 18th (no school July 3rd or 4th)
Session 2: July 21st - August 13th
